Stampede! for Open Space Saturday, August 9, 2014, 9:00 am to noon
Join us on Saturday, August 9, 2014, at Carson Nature Center in Littleton for the 21st annual Stampede! for Open Space. This FREE Western Welcome Week event is a great way for the whole family to celebrate our community's wonderful open spaces. Come for a full morning of fun and educational activities:
Meet a mountain man, explore a tipi, and learn about our area's early inhabitants
Search for clues in the Stampede! Stumper scavenger hunt to get a free Stampede! banana and a chance to win great prizes!
It's all free, but donations are accepted to help South Metro Land Conservancy raise funds to preserve open space in Arapahoe County, participate in regional land conservation efforts, and educate the public about open space.
Bike or hike: Ride or walk on the beautiful Mary Carter Greenway trail along the South Platte River to the Carson Nature Center
Public transit: Take the RTD Light Rail to Littleton Mineral Station and walk west and north across the parking lot until you see the sign for the Carson Nature Center
By car: Turn west on Mineral Avenue from Santa Fe Drive, then turn right at the first light onto Platte River Parkway. Park in the Carson Nature Center parking lot or the RTD parking lot. Walk to the Mary Carter Greenway trail and look for the Stampede! signs
